Description

Markey's, a multi-state company and a leading provider in creative audio-visual services, is looking for a skilled Accounts Receivable Billing Specialist to perform billing and accounts receivable tasks.

This is a full-time, hourly (non-exempt) position with typical daytime office hours Monday through Friday. Position is based at Markey's Headquarters Office near downtown Indianapolis.

Position Responsibilities

Billing and Invoicing :

Timely and accurate completion of client billing
Review and verify billing information to ensure accuracy prior to sending invoices
Maintain and update customer billing information including federal and state tax exemption statuses
Respond promptly and politely to customer inquiries related to billing, payments, and account statuses
Update and maintain various customer billing portals for invoice submission

Accounts Receivable :

Receive incoming checks through mail or interoffice and perform bank deposits

Take credit card payments over the phone

Post and apply client payments via check, cash, credit card, and / or electronic methods

Resolve unallocated cash and reconcile payment discrepancies

Review new customer account applications for terms in alignment with company policies

Complete customer trade reference requests

Identify accounts with outstanding invoices, contact customers to review the status of their account, and resolve past due balances by sending reminders and / or account statements via phone, mail, and / or email

Other :

Update internal billing and accounts receivable reports

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing processes related to billing and accounts receivable

Minimum of associate’s degree in accounting or 3 years of equivalent experience required

Well-rounded understanding of accounting principles and procedures

Ability to work independently and as a part of a small team

Extreme accuracy and attention to detail

Exceptional organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and multi-task

Familiarity with QuickBooks a plus

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

Ability to learn quickly, take initiative, and become proficient in processes

Perform other duties as assigned and provide support for accounting and company functions as needed
