JOB SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will be tasked with a high impact and high visibility project to develop processes, tooling, & fixturing on advanced automation equipment.

All internships are 10 weeks duration (June 23, 2025 through September 5, 2025). You must be available for the full internship.

This role will require access to access information controlled under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR, 15 CFR §§ 730-780),and likely the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR, 22 CFR §§ 120-130), and so applicants for this position must be one of a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or other Protected Individual (as defined under 8 USC § 1324b(a)(3)).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the Manufacturing Engineering and Equipment Engineering Technician team to develop automated die attach, ultrasonic wire bonding, and epoxy lid attach processes.
  • Utilize AutoCAD/SolidWorks to design & document new fixtures, tooling, & processes for high-mix manufacturing lines.
  • Prototype tooling and fixturing using 3D printing technologies and quick lead time machine shops.
  • Collaborate with Production and Quality Assurance to document new processes and procedures.
  • Brainstorm solutions for mechanical, electrical, process, & automation problems.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment on the cutting edge of RF & Microwave technologies and learn about the manufacturing processes utilized in the industry.
  • Manage priorities and communicate regularly with your manager on progress and challenges.
  • Present results to the Marki team at the conclusion of the internship via a readout meeting.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • College undergraduate (Junior/Sophomore) studying electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, industrial engineering, or related field. 
  • Strong academic record (minimum GPA 2.8).
  • Understanding of, or experience in, project management and use of project management tools is a plus.
  • Experience with 2D or 3D CAD, SolidWorks/AutoCAD preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter. Works independently while contributing to the team goals.
  • Commitment to work with a hands-on approach in a team atmosphere.
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.

 

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Experience with machine shop equipment such as mills, lathes, waterjets, CNC’s etc. is a plus.
  • Experience with hand/power tooling is required.
  • Experience with pneumatic, mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical power transmission systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of production automation methodologies is a plus.
  • Experience programming computer-controlled machinery is a plus.
  • 3D printing experience is a plus.
  • Designing tooling/fixturing for automation or ergonomics is a plus.
  • Experience in RF component production and test a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible to changing priorities, deadlines, demands and assignments as needed.
  • Design of Experiments (DOE) & statistical process control experience preferred.
  • Excellent data analysis skills and a logical approach to problem solving.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, peers, and customers.
