Markleys Precision Company, LLC, a family-owned provider of industrial blasting and coating solutions, is looking for an Outside Sales Representative to drive business growth in our service region. In this role, you will focus on selling our industrial coating services (including liners, blasting, and painting projects)​ to commercial and industrial clients. 


The position involves developing new leads, building relationships with customers in sectors like manufacturing, energy, utilities, and construction, and closing sales for projects such as tank linings, industrial sandblasting, and protective paint applications. This is a full-time role based in New London, OH, covering a local and regional territory. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Generation & Networking: Identify and prospect potential customers in need of industrial sandblasting, coating, or lining services – for example, tank manufacturers & fabricators, petrochemical manufacturers/distributors, water treatment facilities, and other industrial facilities​. Follow up on leads generated through our marketing channels as well as Generate leads through cold calling, research, networking at industry events, and following up on inquiries or referrals.
  • Client Consultation: Meet with prospective and existing clients (onsite at customer facilities or via phone/Zoom) to assess their needs for abrasive blasting, corrosion control, and industrial painting services. Consultatively evaluate client requirements and recommend appropriate solutions from Markleys Precision’s service offerings (e.g. recommending a tank lining system or a specific coating process based on the client’s problem).
  • Presentations & Proposals: Prepare and deliver professional sales presentations, proposals, and bids. Clearly articulate the scope of work, technical approach, and value proposition of our services. Provide accurate job estimates/quotes in collaboration with our operations team, ensuring profitability while meeting client budget and timeline needs.
  • Sales Negotiation & Closing: Manage the sales cycle from initial contact to closing the deal. Negotiate contract terms and pricing within company guidelines. Overcome objections and effectively communicate how we can solve their problems and pain points. Communicate important metrics such as return on investment (ROI), extended asset life, regulatory compliance, reduced maintenance, etc. for our industrial coating services. Close sales to meet or exceed monthly and quarterly revenue targets.
  • Account Management: Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients. Serve as the primary point of contact for your accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction. Follow up after project completion to address any concerns, secure testimonials, and pursue repeat business or referrals. Continuously identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell additional services to existing customers.
  • Territory Planning & Reporting: Plan and prioritize sales activities in the assigned territory. Maintain an up-to-date sales pipeline and document all interactions and opportunities in a CRM or sales tracking system. Provide regular sales forecasts, activity reports, and market feedback to company management. Monitor industry trends and competitor offerings to inform our sales strategy.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with our internal project managers and technical teams to hand off sold projects for execution, ensuring all promised details are clearly communicated. Coordinate any necessary site visits or technical consultations for complex jobs. Participate in sales meetings and contribute ideas to marketing initiatives or new service development based on customer input.


Qualifications
  • Sales Experience: 3 years of successful outside sales experience in a B2B environment is required. Experience in the industrial services sector (e.g., selling industrial coatings, construction services, manufacturing equipment, or other technical services) is highly preferred. A proven record of meeting sales targets and growing a territory or client base is desired.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industrial coatings, linings, or abrasive blasting is a strong plus. You should be able to quickly learn and understand our technical services (what is sandblasting, different types of protective coatings, etc.) in order to effectively sell them. An existing network in relevant industries would be beneficial.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. A bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field is a plus (but not strictly required if experience is strong).
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – able to listen to client needs and explain technical concepts in simple terms. Strong negotiation and closing skills. Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Effective time management and organizational skills to handle multiple leads and follow-ups concurrently.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency with basic office software (CRM systems, email, google drive, google docs, google sheets, google slides). Ability to create professional proposals and presentations. Comfort using virtual meeting tools and performing remote outreach as needed.
  • Travel: Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Clean MVR is a bonus. Willingness to travel (~75% day travel, with occasional overnight travel for more distant clients or conferences). This includes visiting job sites and client offices. (Travel expenses reimbursed or company card will be provided)
  • Personal Qualifications: Clean Background check, Passing drug screen. Positive attitude, resilience, and persistence. A customer-focused approach with a knack for building rapport and trust. Ability to adapt sales strategies to different types of clients and industries. Enthusiasm for working in a family-owned business environment where teamwork and integrity are paramount.


Schedule: Full-time, typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, schedule is flexible and can accommodate remote work schedules. Standard business hours with flexibility as needed to accommodate client schedules (e.g., early morning meetings or occasional evening networking events). Most client meetings will be during weekdays. Territory is based out of New London, OH, with travel around the region; your daily schedule will often include on-site visits, so time management is key.

  • Modern CRM : We use a crm system that syncs with mobile & desktop applications. Helping our sales reps while on the go or in office. It helps our sales team to automate follow-up, automate reminder schedules to check in on contacts/deals/leads which helps eliminate a lot of lost time or deals “falling through the cracks”. This all equates to noticeably more sales for our reps.


Compensation: Base Salary: $40,000 – $65,000 per year (depending on experience and qualifications)​, plus an uncapped commission on all sales. Your earning potential is unlimited – you earn a percentage of every deal, with no cap on commissions. It would not be uncommon to achieve 100k - 200k in commissions per year as a very attainable goal.
