We are currently seeking a full-time Litigation Legal Assistant to join the team in our Chesterfield, VA office. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years’ experience working in personal injury litigation as a paralegal/legal assistant.

Responsibilities:

As a Litigation Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for all case clerical details before, during, and after trial. Some responsibilities include:

  • Aid attorneys and/or paralegals on cases and projects
  • Gather and analyze information relevant to claims
  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions and appellate documents and file them with the appropriate court
  • Prepare and draft documents and correspondence necessary to reach settlement
  • Maintain client files, electronically and on paper
  • Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics etc.)

Competitive applicants for this role will have:

  • Proven working experience of 3 – 5 years as a litigation paralegal/litigation legal assistant.
  • Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules, procedures, practices etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • The willingness to be a team player as well as a strong individual contributor
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment
  • Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Other desirable skills and experience include:

  • Previous experience in case management software; familiarity with Filevine is a plus.
  • Paralegal associates degree, other relevant certification, or college degree preferred, but not required

While performing duties of this job, employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
