Pre-Litigation Legal Assistant (Richmond or Tappahannock)

We are currently seeking a full-time Pre-Litigation Legal Assistant to join the team in our Henrico, VA office. The ideal candidate will have a combination of paralegal education, certification as a paralegal, and/or experience working as a paralegal or legal assistant.

Responsibilities:

As a legal assistant, you will be responsible for all case clerical details before, during, and after trial. Some responsibilities include:

• Aid attorneys and/or paralegals on cases and projects
• Gather and analyze information relevant to claims
• Draft legal documents
• Prepare and draft documents and correspondence necessary to reach settlement
• Maintain client files, electronically and on paper
• Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics etc.)

Competitive applicants for this role will have:

• Proven working experience as a Paralegal, or recent education or certification in the legal field.
• Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules, procedures, practices etc.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• The ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• The willingness to be a team player as well as a strong individual contributor
• The ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment
• Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Other desirable skills and experience include:

• Experience in a personal injury law setting.
• Previous experience in case management software; familiarity with Filevine is a plus.
• Paralegal associates degree, other relevant certification, or college degree preferred, but not required
• Litigation experience
• Customer service and interpersonal skills.
