What are the responsibilities and job description for the Orthodontic Assistant position at Marks Orthodontics?

We are looking for a new clinical team member to provide excellent service with great attention to detail. Our environment is a fast paced and always multitasking. We have an awesome team that is ever-growing and ready to help train you on-the-job. Ideally would have completed a dental assisting program or have 1 year of dental experience.
If you don't have the experience, but know you've got the hardworking personality, still apply and we can start you as a records technician with ability to move up! Ideal candidate would at least have customer service experience and we are willing to teach the dental aspects and get you dental assistant certified for the right person.
Responsibilities:
- Assist orthodontist with patient care and treatment procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms and equipment for patient visits
- Take and record patients' medical history and vital signs
- Perform orthodontic procedures such as taking impressions, X-rays, and photographs
- Assist with placing and removing orthodontic appliances
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene and care instructions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including coding and documentation
- Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow in the office
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in dental assisting preferred
- Previous experience as an orthodontic assistant is a plus
- Knowledge of medical coding, documentation, and recordkeeping practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages, including children (pediatrics)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and patient needs
