What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bus Driver position at Marlboro Elementary School?
Marlboro School is seeking a driver for scheduled routes within the Marlboro School District. This individual needs to have a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or be currently pursuing one.
Marlboro is a small school with a dedicated and compassionate faculty and staff and a supportive community. We embrace Restorative Practices and approach our work with students through a lens of equity and inclusion. We have a small crew of bus drivers who work as a tight-knit team. The transportation schedule is developed monthly and overseen by our Bus Coordinator. Driving opportunities may include field trips and other off-site activities in addition to daily bus routes.
A School Bus Driver interacts daily with children and serves as their trusted transportation to and from school. As such, a School Bus Driver should be free of any traffic or legal violations and should have an authoritative, yet calming demeanor and a strong understanding of traffic laws.
Duties of the School Bus Driver may include the following:
- Transport children and other passengers to and from school
- Obey all traffic laws
- Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus at all times
- Ensure the safety of all students
- Verify permissions for children who ride home with friends
- Assist students with getting on and off the bus as needed
- Respond to unexpected behaviors as needed to maintain a safe environment
- Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route
- Attend safety meetings as required
