1. Minimum of a High School Diploma
2. At least six years experience in school bus transportation administration, and/or Supervision of Pupil Transportation Certificate as may be deemed appropriate by the Business Administrator.
3. Valid Commercial School Bus Driver’s License
4. Excellent Driving Record
5. Knowledge of State laws and regulations governing school bus construction, maintenance, and pupil transportation
6. Demonstrated skills in personnel management, routes scheduling, fleet maintenance and cost containment and human resources
7. Demonstrated ability to grow professionally in the position.
8. Aptitude in the use of technology.
9. Required criminal history background check and proof of U. S. Citizenship or Legal Resident Alien Status.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops and administers a safe, consistent, and efficient transportation program to meet all the school busing needs of all Marlboro Township Schools, including field trips and extracurricular activities.
2. Establishes bus stops and prepares bus routes utilizing computerized routing system for all students in the district as dictated by Board Policies and State Law.
3. Revises and updates bus schedules to provide the most efficient and economical routes for the school district
4. Recruits, trains, and supervises all transportation personnel, and makes recommendations on their employment, transfer, promotion and release.
5. Supervises the upkeep of all district-owned equipment, develops plans for preventive maintenance and ensures timely inspection of all board-operated buses, in accordance with federal and state laws.
6. Responsible for transportation of students with disabilities, both in the district as well as out-of-district transportation.
7. Submits a proposed transportation budget and administers same upon approval of the Business Administrator.
8. Approves the authorized overtime for staff and oversees the submission of the computerized payroll for the Transportation Department.
9. Authorizes purchases of new vehicles and assists in the preparation of bid specifications for same, in accordance with budgetary limitations and the approval of the Business Administrator.
10. Provides safety programs for in-service training for drivers and attendants.
11. Cooperates with school principals and others responsible for planning school trips, athletic trips, extracurricular activities, and emergency evacuation drills at all schools.
12. Takes an active role in resolving discipline problems occurring on school buses.
13. Develops recommendations for future equipment and personnel needs based enrollment projections, distance, and school schedules.
14. Acts as liaison with parents and school administrators for complaints and special requests.
15. Is knowledgeable and conforms to all federal and state laws and regulations regarding school transportation.
16. Maintains an individual and permanent file on each board-owned transportation vehicle as required under law and makes them available for inspection upon request.
17. Completes and dispatches all accident and insurance reports.
18. Submits all reports required by state authorities.
19. Advises Superintendent on road conditions in inclement weather.
20. Attends appropriate committee and staff meetings.
21. Performs such other duties in fulfillment of his/her general responsibilities as may be required by law as prescribed by the Board of Education in accordance with law.
