The swim program at Camp Settoga serves over 350 campers and staff during the summer and about 6 swim periods a day. Each swim period features an instructional and a free swim. The JCC's Camp Settoga is looking for upbeat, friendly instructors with a desire to share a love of swim safety to children. Swim levels vary for children ages 4-12

Lifeguarding Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of all persons in the pool and pool area. Uphold and improve upon the safety procedures to protect and safeguard the public in the aquatics facilities. Interact with members and non-members in a friendly and professional manner. Routinely inspect pool safety equipment.
- Act in a supervisory capacity on the pool deck as it relates to day to day activities. Respond immediately to all emergency situations at Camp Settoga. Enforce rules and water safety procedures in a professional, polite manner.
- Maintain cleanliness of the pool deck including squeegeeing, picking up debris on the pool deck and in the pool, straightening out equipment and keeping deck space free from obstruction. Inspect changing rooms periodically to ensure health/safety standards, cleanliness and neatness.
- Remain aware of potential hazards or unsafe conditions and report them to management, facilities and maintenance immediately.
- Regularly check and document chemical readings for both pools.
- Maintain accurate head count numbers.
- Lead small group swim lessons as outlined by the Aquatics Director. Implement swim evaluations. Keep documentation on campers swim progress
- Provide feedback to camp counselors on how to assist during swim lessons
Qualifications
- Lifeguard Certification that includes Lifeguard Training, Professional CPR AED - (Camp Settoga is willing to provide training course)
- Upbeat, personable, enthusiastic and a team player
- WSI
- Experience leading classes preferred although training can be provided.
- Orientation June 22, 2025- June 25, 2025 day time (times vary)
- Camp in session June 30, 2025 - August 15, 2025: 8:45am-4:30 pm
