What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lift Truck Operator position at Marlite®, a Division of Verzatec?
ROLE:
- The primary responsibility of the Forklift Operator is to stage the proper products/materials at the scheduled machining centers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate a gas or electric forklift in and between departments, buildings, and grounds.
- Collect and delivers a wide variety of materials while adhering to established safety procedures.
- Delivers materials to work areas as directed.
- Stacks materials in storage areas.
- Proficient knowledge of raw, in-process and finished material pickup and destination locations.
- Follows the production schedule placed at the machine center.
- Enter information and transactions into the production reporting system as required.
- Other duties assigned and determined to be necessary by Management.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be certified and licensed to safely operate and drive a powered vehicle.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The physical demands of this position are representative of those that must be met by production team members.
- While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to
- sit in a driving position for periods of time, moving levers and pressing pedals,
- step up onto the forklift and step down off of the forklift as many times as needed,
- reach and support their body weight with hands and arms,
- use hands to handle or feel objects or tools,
- stoop, kneel, or crouch,
- While performing the duties of the job, the team member is regularly required to:
- assist with stacking boards from a line to a pallet. The boards can range in size from 4’x 8’ to 5’x 10’ and typically come in ¼”, ¾” and 1” increments. Depending on the size and thickness of the board, it may range in weight from 25# to 100#. Assistance by another team member is required for stacking and moving these boards.
- assist in flipping 4’ x 8’ and 5’ x 10’ boards from front to back. Assistance by another team member is required for stacking and moving these boards.
