Job Title: Junior Estimator – Wastewater Treatment and Lift Station Construction

Location: New Port Richey, Florida

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated Junior Estimator to join our team. The Junior Estimator will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for projects related to wastewater treatment plant and lift station construction and rehabilitation. This role involves preparing detailed proposals, performing quantity take-offs (QTOs), responding to Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), obtaining Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for materials, and compiling comprehensive Bills of Material. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a foundational understanding of construction estimating processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimate Preparation: Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to develop detailed and itemized material quantity estimates.
  • Quantity Take-Offs: Perform precise quantity take-offs to determine the exact amounts of materials and labor required for each project.
  • Proposal Development: Prepare comprehensive proposals outlining project scope, costs, and timelines.
  • RFQ and RFP Management: Respond to RFQs promptly and solicit RFPs from suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Bill of Materials Compilation: Develop accurate Bills of Material for project execution, ensuring all components are accounted for.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure alignment on project estimates and material requirements.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, material costs, and regional pricing variations to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized records of all estimates, proposals, and correspondence for future reference and analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Experience in construction estimating, including performing quantity take-offs, preferably within the water/wastewater sector.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with construction plans and specifications is essential.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Analytical Ability: Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Team Player: Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
