SUMMARY
The Lead Support Staff provides direct care to individuals with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), developmental, and physical disabilities. They implement service plans and habilitation programs, promote community integration, and assist with site management and administrative duties. The Lead Support Staff also assists in orienting and scheduling ABI Support Staff, Floaters, and Community Support Services (CSS) or Shared Living Support Staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Life Skills Development: Train individuals in independent life skills such as cooking, housekeeping, personal care, decision-making, money management, and more to help them live safely and independently.
Health Management: Address medical needs by scheduling doctor appointments, providing transportation, and ensuring follow-through on medical orders while communicating health issues to supervisors.
Self-Medication Support: Monitor and assist individuals in self-administering medication.
Vocational Skills: Help with job-related skills like memory strategies, stamina, computer skills, and interview techniques, assisting individuals in improving work competency.
Daily Activities Assistance: Support individuals with hygiene, behavioral goals, exercise programs, and other team-recommended procedures.
Case Management Collaboration: Work with the Case Manager or Director to suggest improvements and changes for individuals’ quality of life, and manage day-to-day site operations.
Staff Coordination: Assist in the orientation and scheduling of ABI Support Staff and Floaters.
Food Preparation: Supervise and assist with meal preparation, ensuring dietary needs are met and food consistency is followed.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely records, including case notes, incident reports, safety logs, and time sheets.
Physical Support: Safely assist individuals with lifting, transfers, and positioning as outlined in service plans.
Program Responsibilities
Participate in team meetings to review and develop ABI Service Plans, ensuring attendance and minutes are documented and communicated.
Collaborate with team members to track data, review progress, and adjust individualized recovery plans as needed.
Operate motor vehicles safely while performing work duties and may be required to use a personal vehicle.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED and one year of successful experience in a related human services role.
SALARY
$19.52/hr increasing to $19.96/hr after 6 months.
