JOB SUMMARY: 

 

Strategic-minded technical leader defining and delivering future revenue management systems and solutions.  Functions as work-group leader, of teams to include Operations Research engineers and other technical teams, in the development of new and creative business solutions to pricing, revenue management, sales and reservations challenges. Oversees and leads programming and analysis by following standard application development tools and processes for support of revenue management and sales systems. Ensures alignment with the larger project teams on solutions that satisfy the business objectives and goals.  Guides the team in delivering business solutions on analytical or research-oriented activities to serve our business in an innovative and impactful manner.

 

Supports the following organizations:  Sales & Revenue Management. Might be required to support additional organizations such as Loyalty, Brand and Operations.

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

 

Education and Experience 

Required:

  • 5 years’ experience in Operations Research discipline 
  • 5 years’ of development of innovative methods of advance OR, Analytics and other complex mathematical modeling to solve business problem and corresponding software development
  • 5 years recent experience as a primary point of application accountability for an application with extensive OR or modeling component
  • Demonstrated expertise in identifying Operations Research solutions that improve companies’ bottom line
  • Demonstrated expertise of Revenue Management, hospitality, industry application platforms, trends and best practices
  • Proven track record of leading large teams and initiatives from inception through delivery, in both waterfall and agile frameworks. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate technical and OR concepts and solutions to a broader audience, including Senior Leadership and business teams.
  • Adept knowledge of Marriott ecosystem and interdependencies of the various systems
  • Graduate degree in Operations Research or related field (Management Science, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or Engineering)

 

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated success leading medium- to large-scale initiatives/transformations 
  • Expert knowledge of hospitality industry and business processes
  • Experience with performing predictive modeling, forecasting, or statistical analysis on large scale datasets
  • Demonstrated ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, decide and influence appropriate courses of action
  • Demonstrated success leading medium- to large-scale initiatives/transformations 
  • Good process management, negotiating, influencing and problem resolution skills 
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to understand and communicate the lifecycle of technologies, OR solutions and applications and to translate into business strategies for the client organizations.
  • Solid understanding of IT financial structures and ability to manage to corporate financial processes and standards - including drivers of process costs
  • Ability to accomplish results through others, particularly by establishing relationships, effective controls and leading in a managed service environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical ideas in easy to understand business terms

Operations Research Leadership

  • Mentors and trains OR team members to deliver innovative solutions

  • Works with direct reports to facilitate consistency of OR service delivery across client groups
  • Facilitates compliance with the standard set of application development tools and processes that will drive consistency and predictability throughout the SDLC for all client groups including:
    • SDLC standard tools and processes for both waterfall and agile development
    • Estimating standard tools and processes, incorporating flexibility for small and large projects
    • Deployment standard tools and processes
  • Monitors and Manages OR projects to ensure delivery within scope, time and budget. 
  • Communicates to Application Development leaders opportunities to create broader IT related and corporate standards and policies where necessary

 

Implementing and Managing Continuous Improvement Program 

  • Drives adoption of Sales and Revenue Management applications and their components 
  • Creatively develops metrics to measure model performance
  • Works with application development service providers, IT teams, and business partners to implement continuous improvement activities
  • Responds to issues identified in project surveys or other feedback processes, to continually improve client satisfaction

 

Managing Application Development Standards, Processes, And Tools

  • Works with direct reports to facilitate consistency of service delivery across client groups
  • Facilitates compliance with the standard set of application development tools and processes that will drive consistency and predictability throughout the SDLC for all client groups including:

    • Estimating standard tools and processes, incorporating flexibility for small and large projects
