The Manager of User Experience Design, helps the team to support a vision for how experiences should be designed across Marriott.com. The ideal candidate brings user experience and visual design skills, obsesses about the guest, and can implement at mass scale. This associate will be a proactive problem solver with a keen focus on data-driven product design. 

Reporting to the Director of UX and Design, this associate will be a designer skilled at working with digital product teams, producing creative and impactful solutions through ideation, regular feedback and critique. They will work individually and in collaboration with other user experience designers to produce actionable deliverables 

A strong portfolio is critical for this role. Your portfolio should showcase experience in UX and visual design, particularly where simplicity and ease-of-use were a major concern.

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

Education and Experience

Required

  • 4 years of experience as a UX designer or a similar role
  • 4-year degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in design or technology discipline or equivalent experience 
  • Experience in one or more of the following user experience disciplines: interaction design, visual design, motion/animation, prototyping
  • Experience in solving problems, thinking logically and analyzing complex use cases
  • Ability to solve problems quickly, think creatively, and support speed-to-market delivery
  • Grounding in general usability and transactional design best practices 
  • Understanding of atomic design framework,
  • Effective written and oral communications skills

Preferred

  • Experience with major, large-scale global digital apps, web sites, or other digital products within the commerce or travel space preferred
  • Experience working with a multi-brand design systems and using variables/tokenization

 

 

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES 

 

Demonstrating and Applying Discipline Knowledge 

  • Produces sketches, wireframes, personas, journey maps, flows, designs, motion specs, Figma prototypes and/or presentations as needed to communicate experience design
  • Produces both innovative high-level design concepts / strategy visualizations as well as development-ready designs with specifications
  • Clearly present your work citing industry best practices, qual and quant data to support your decisions
  • Ensure a quality experience on live digital products by participating in the user acceptance testing process
  • Works collaboratively with other sub-disciplines in User Experience as well as other teammates across the organization
  • Uses software including: Figma; AEM Storybook (or equivalent); Adobe Creative Suite; Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • References Design System for appropriate patterns, components, and styles in the course of user experience design work
  • Keeps skills up-to-date on industry trends and applies new knowledge to job
  • Understands web technologies and principles— like responsive design, front-end markup and libraries such as HTML, CSS

  • Provides accurate estimates as to needed time to complete work to feed project plans (and therefore personal deadlines)

The salary range for this position is $91,905 to $162,366 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus.

Washington Applicants Only: Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.

Headquarters-based positions are considered hybrid, for candidates within a commuting distance to Bethesda, MD;  candidates outside of commuting distance to Bethesda, MD will be considered for Remote positions.
