What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Counselor position at Marrs Elementary School?
Skiatook Public Schools is seeking applicants for an Elementary School Counselor for the 2025-2026 school year.
Purpose:
The Elementary School Counselor helps students attain an optimum level of personal and social adjustment. In order to coordinate a comprehensive counseling program, the Elementary Counselor must work closely with the other staff and administration of the district.
Responsible to: Building Principal
Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Masters degree from accredited college/university.
3. Current Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with School Counselor certification on file in the Distrcit Office.
Essential Functions:
1. Help students attain an optimum level of personal and social adjustment.
2. Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and supporting agencies concerning the needs and abilities of students.
3. Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
4. Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
5. Work effectively with community organizations.
6. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
7. Support the value of education.
8. Support the philosophy and vision of Skiatook Public Schools.
9. Adhere to guidance and mandates from OSDE regarding school counseling services.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
1. Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
2. Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
3. Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching.
Skiatook Public Schools offers competitive pay and benefits including paid holidays and health benefits. Starting salary will be based on applicant qualifications and/or work history. Title 1 District- Skiatook Public Schools is a Title 1 district. Under the Teacher Loan Forgiveness (TLF) Program, if you teach full time for five complete and consecutive academic years in a low-income school or educational service agency, and meet other qualifications, you may be eligible for forgiveness of up to $17,500 on your Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans and your Subsidized and Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loans.
