The VP, Retail Commerce Lead is the driver of Connected Commerce across retail teams for a large, multi-segment, multi-brand CPG client, linking all the levers needed to deliver the most efficient and effective business results. They make connections across retail teams, lead customer leadership asks/initiatives that are not retailer specific, develop strong client relationships, drive strategic thought leadership and elevate any staffing/scoping needs to the EVP Retail Consultancy.
The VP, Retail Commerce Lead is the first point of contact for any national media agency collaboration. As key strategic partner to Client Leadership, the RCL is the general steward of the retail specific portion of client business and the key collaborator for all business needs that are retail specific, but not retailer specific. They lead the approach and development of overarching business QBRs, overarching learnings from commerce plans and levers, annual planning and setting of overarching business objectives and KPIs. (Retailer specific requests to be owned by the Commerce Planning Director over that retailer.). They drive integration with all national media planning and strategy projects to ensure all objectives are achieved and executed within the defined retail expectations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide thought leadership, impacting/contributing to client’s way of doing business in retail environment on an ongoing basis
  • Drive connectivity, consistency and polish in output across retail teams on template based deliverables including (but not limited to): Annual planning, QBR’s, Recaps, Plan on a Page, Incremental funding, Sales Requests
  • Owner of providing POV and guidance to client and internal commerce team on audience strategy, media investment planning, sufficiency in search and overall search strategy support by retailer.
  • Act as a change agent/impact player from both an internal and external perspective – contributing to both client and agency performance
  • Leads customer leadership asks and initiatives that are retail (but not retailer) specific, including support of key customer meetings (e.g. Innovation Summits, line reviews, etc.) in partnership with the relevant retailers Hub leads.
  • Steward over client retail return on relationship and total business impact planning
  • Identify and track emerging commerce media, ecommerce and brick/mortar retail and digital shelf trends across client marketplace, regularly develop and share content for clients and internal agency teams.
  • Partner with Client Leadership on competitive tracking and POV on best practices, learnings and defense based on competitive trends or gains.
  • Is the subject matter expert for ecommerce content and retail requirements and continuously assess the definition of best-in-class content for client-specific categories across ecommerce platforms
  • Oversight ownership and collaboration with client and client leadership for macro measurement priorities, MMM inputs, Marilyn tracking oversight and scorecard development.
  • Oversight and direction of the Commerce team in collaboration with Commerce Hub Leads and Client Leadership for quality and consistency in deliverables across retail teams.
  • Able to work with cross-functional teams to ensure there is an end-to-end understanding of processes, strategy, and the role of ecommerce content
  • Elevates any staffing, client scoping needs to EVP and Business leads for resolution and visibility
  • Escalates any functional needs or opportunities to Function leads

SKILLSETS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, business, or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of commerce experience at a retailer, CPG, marketing or advertising agency inclusive of shopper, ecommerce and media.
  • Experience with retail specific media inclusive of but not limited to Retail Media Networks, retailer.com, 3P Vendors.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking in development of shopper marketing programs, ecommerce space and management of the day-to-day
  • Possesses an entrepreneurial spirit and a ‘self-starter’ mentality with a deep sense of accountability, creativity, resourcefulness, and desire to collaborate and step in for the good of the team and agency
  • A wealth of industry knowledge including current trends, consumer packaged goods and retailer information, and business philosophies
  • Motivational leader who inspires the team to deliver top performance every day against assigned business and min 4 years experience with cross-functional team management
  • Dynamic personality and leadership skills, able to effectively engage, communicate and influence a variety of audiences
  • Collaborative approach to teamwork and problem-solving
  • Sound decision-making skills based in agency, client, and industry knowledge
  • Passion for business and dissatisfaction with the status quo – always thinking of ways to improve and grow
  • Strong listening skills and attention to detail
  • Superior verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills

Compensation Range: $120,000 - $150,000 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
