The role functions as a member of an area team that is directly responsible for the efficient production of quality products in the required quantities. This role will operate/change over specified machinery in the assigned area. Extrusion Operators must ensure efficiency, operational conformance, product quality and continuous improvement. Extrusion Utility Operators must have the skill set to train and/or perform the tasks of other associates in the area as needed. This job requires strong communication, interpersonal and team building skills to support site objectives.

Shift: 6 pm - 6:30 am; Nights 223 (2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on; 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off)

What are we looking for?

• Standing on a concrete floor
• Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform)
• Bending, stooping, twist, turn, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 55lbs
• Must be able to adapt to temperature and environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust dirt and chemicals
• Vision correctable to 20/20
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Have a High school diploma, GED or equivalent education
• Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules
• Ability to understand and effectively communicate in the English language
• 1 year of manufacturing experience preferred
• 1 year of work experience within manufacturing, or a technical and/or trade discipline preferred
• Demonstrated competency in computer and pc software including MS Office and email
• Knowledge of inventory control principles
• Ability to operate a forklift and scissor lift
  
  

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Operate extrusion, drying, coating, cooling, product transfer, and cleaning equipment and systems
• Operate production and processing systems in accordance with Mars Petcare Operating Procedures; in a safe, productive, and efficient manner at all times.
• Perform Processing operational activity according to production and planning schedules and requirements
• Perform required Quality Control checks and/or analysis on each production of processed and coated materials in accordance to Mars Petcare Quality Procedures.
• Maintain CCPs in the department
• Perform the CCP procedure according to SOPs
• Perform periodic and routine inventories of raw materials in storage
• Provide and perform routine maintenance and checks on equipment
• Provide reporting and documentation of Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Sanitation activities in accordance with Mars Petcare Operating Procedures
• Assist in other production, sanitation, maintenance, and quality activity in other areas as directed.
• Provide functional communications with other staff members as necessary to optimize quality, efficiency, productivity and safety.
• Perform all duties in compliance with Mars Petcare Quality Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Adhere to all Mars Petcare safety requirements.
• Perform housekeeping and sanitation procedures in accordance with Mars Petcare’s Food Safety and Sanitation Program.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Assist the plant to meet or exceed production goals.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment that promotes associate safety and product integrity.
• All associates are responsible for the safety, quality and food safety in their work area.
