Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Home Health Aide to join our Home Health team. The ideal candidate will provide compassionate and high-quality care to patients in the comfort of their homes.
Qualifications for a Home Health Aide:
- Minimum one year work experience
- Certified Nursing Assistant CNA License /OR/
- Must be certified as a Home Health Aide; Completed 75 hours of Home Health Aide training or from an accredited school.
Responsibilities
Home health Aides help clients who are disabled, chronically ill, or cognitively impaired. They help with activities of daily living such as bathing and dressing, and they provide services such as light housekeeping and meal preparation. Home health aides may be able to give client medication reminders or give medications which have been previously sorted into a pill organizer by a nurse. They can also check the client’s vital signs under the direction of a nurse or other healthcare practitioner.
The reason for the visits by the home health aide must be to provide hands-on personal care of the patient, or services needed to maintain the patient’s health and to facilitate treatment of the patient’s illness or injury.
Duties
Home health and personal care aides do the following but are not limited to:
A.) Personal Care:
Ø Bathing, dressing, grooming, caring for hair, nail, oral hygiene which are needed to facilitate treatment or to prevent deterioration of the patient’s health.
Ø Changing bed linens of an incontinent patient, shaving, deodorant application, skin care with lotion and/ or powder, foot care, and ear care.
B.) Simple dressing changes that do not require the skills of a Licensed Nurse
Ø Only applicable when a physician has ordered the home health aide visit for more frequent repositioning, bathing, and the application of a topical ointment and a gauze 4x4, for example. Home health aide visits at an appropriate frequency would be reasonable and necessary.
C.) Assistance with ,medications which are ordinarily self-administered and do not require the skills of a Licensed Nurse to be provided safely and effectively
Ø Home health aide services are those services ordered in the plan of care that the aides is permitted to perform under state law.
Ø The Home health aide should remind patient to take meds, and can also give meds to patient if and when previously separated in a pill dispenser by a LPN or RN.
D.) Assistance with activities which are directly supportive of skilled Therapy to be safely and effectively performed such as routine maintenance exercises and repetitive practices of functional communication skills to support speech-language pathology services.
Ø When a home health aide visits a patient to provide a health related service, the home health aide may also perform some incidental services which do not meet the definition of a home health aide service (e.g., light cleaning, preparation of meal, taking out the trash, shopping, etc.) However, the purpose of a home health related service, but rather are necessary household task that must be performed by anyone to maintain a home.
Ø Helps family member care for the patient by teaching appropriate ways to lift, turn and reposition the patient.
Other Responsibilities
Ø Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy patient environment by following asepses standards and procedures; maintain security precautions; following prescribed dietary requirements and nutrition standards.
Ø Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
Ø Protects the home care agency by adhering to professional standards, home care policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements
Ø Enhances service reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Required: A certificate stating competency in the skills and knowledge required of a
Home Health Aide.
Job Types: Full-time, Per diem
Pay: From $13.00 per hour
