QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or its equivalent and a valid driver’s license
REPORTS TO: Director of Building and Grounds
JOB GOAL: To provide for the efficient and safe daily operation of the buildings and grounds in accordance with federal and state laws, and Board of Education policies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain boilers in good working order
- Safely maintain sidewalks and exterior entry ways throughout the year (i.e. shovel snow, repair cracks, sweep the sidewalks after mowing and trimming, etc.)
- Keep a record of continuous preventative maintenance activities
- Cut grass and weed exterior areas of the school
- Help maintain all electrical equipment in a safe manner and keep in working order
- Help maintain all gas-powered equipment so that it is in good working order (i.e. oil, grease, sharpen blades, etc.)
- Help maintain all aspects of the heating system in good and safe working order (i.e. clean all filters, etc.)
- Help maintain all plumbing so that it is safe and in working order (i.e. unclog drains, repair leaking faucets, water pumps, toilets, etc.)
- Board up and replace broken windows/caulk as necessary
- Repair doors, lockers, panic bars, etc. so that they operate in a safe manner
- Help maintain floor and ceiling tiles; keep a supply of tiles and adhesive on inventory
- Oil, grease and monitor/clean all equipment requiring regular preventive maintenance procedures as required by the manufacturer to maintain warranty or in good/safe working order
- Install/maintain handicapped accessible equipment
- Help maintain bleachers in such a manner that they are safe
- See that all materials are stored in appropriate containers and kept in a safe manner in a clean environment
- Be responsive to the general safety and security of the school in accordance with federal and state requirements
- Be attentive to other immediate needs that may be necessary for the efficient and safe operation of the school building and grounds
- Be able to take and use constructive suggestions that have good results for the total school operation
- Be able to work in a positive, supportive manner with the custodial/maintenance personnel, teachers, staff and administrative supervisors
- Perform other necessary and reasonable tasks assigned by the Superintendent or other administration/designee.
