The Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University (MBKU) is seeking an outstanding individual who can contribute to our strong teaching, clinical, and research programs. A full-time tenure track faculty position is open for an individual with expertise in Primary Care and Ocular Disease. The position reports to the Dean of Optometry.
This position will be primarily clinical with responsibilities providing patient care and teaching instructional laboratories.

Each faculty member is expected to participate actively in college life through their assigned responsibilities and by their individual actions to enhance ethics, standards, and service to others within the academic community. Faculty responsibilities may include but is not limited to teaching, student advising, faculty mentoring, research and scholarship, participation in governance, service to the institution, community and professional service, and administrative duties.

MBKU is home to the Southern California College of Optometry, the School of PA Studies and College of Pharmacy. MBKU owns and operates three health care centers at their clinical teaching facility, Ketchum Health, providing a vision center and PA medical clinic practice in Orange County and second vision center in Los Angeles.

In the early ‘70s the College moved to its current home in Fullerton, CA and was renamed Southern California College of Optometry. But even the pioneering Dr. Ketchum could not have envisioned his school would grow to become Marshall B. Ketchum University, an independent, private, non-profit, accredited educational institution encompassing multiple disciplines.

Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be able to manage anterior segment and posterior segment pathology.
- Be able to perform and interpret diagnostic instrumentation such as optical coherence tomography, ultrasonography and perimetry.
- Some experience or knowledge with injections and lasers is preferred.
- Have experience in teaching, clinical practice, and scholarship at a level appropriate for appointment.
- Develop and practice effective teaching strategies that foster success in students.
- Participate in the course coordination, development and/or selection of course materials, equipment, and technology that will enhance offerings of the College of Optometry program.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific literature and academic publications.
- Demonstration of ethical conduct, professionalism, interpersonal and leadership skills, and management abilities.
- A Doctor of Optometry degree from an ACOE accredited institution.
- Successful completion of an accredited residency in Primary Care or Ocular Disease and/or gained years of clinical experience within these areas of optometry.
- Be eligible for licensure with diagnostic, therapeutic topical and non-topical pharmaceutical agents in California.
- Be eligible for credentialing and privileging in compliance with Southern California College of Optometry standards at Ketchum Health.
- An active DEA license is preferred.
