Description

The Social Media Coordinator will be MBKU’s highly creative and resident social media expert responsible for planning, developing and implementing MBKU’s overall social media strategy to support brand awareness, admissions efforts and student life of the university. This role will help tell MBKU’s story as a leading healthcare education institution while engaging with students, faculty, alumni, and the broader healthcare community.

This position will work closely with the Marketing & Multimedia Manager and Associate Vice President for Marketing & Communications and the marketing team on executing the strategic digital and brand management campaigns utilizing digital advertising, marketing, social media and search engine optimization.

The Social Media Coordinator will track, analyze and report on all digital marketing efforts. The position is responsible for managing and developing content for various digital mediums, including, but not limited to content management on the University’s websites that connect with social media posts, as well as posting regularly on all university social media channels while ensuring that the MBKU brand, mission and vision are communicated effectively.

Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSI­­BILITIES

The Social Media Coordinator will develop and implement comprehensive social media strategies aligned with MBKU’s university's mission of advancing healthcare education. This includes creating content calendars, scheduling posts, and maintaining consistent engagement across all platforms as well as creating compelling, platform-specific content that highlights MBKU’s academic programs, student achievements, faculty research, campus events, and community involvement. This includes writing copy, taking photos, creating graphics, and producing short-form videos. Key responsibilities include:

  • This position will manage all MBKU's and Ketchum Health’s social media platforms, including, but not limited to: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok.
  • This position will manage content as it relates to social media on MBKU's websites ketchum.edu and ketchumhealth.org.
  • This position must be aware of trends in traditional and social media, which includes keeping up-to-date on new apps and other forms of digital media innovation.
  • This position requires strong analytical skills that can help them properly determine the answers gleaned from gathered data. They must also be strong communicators to accurately convey the vision of an ad campaign to creative teams and executives, as well as to discuss budget concerns.
  • This position requires strong critical thinking skills for efficient campaign development strategizing and a keen awareness of current events and trends that relate to a target audience's interests.
  • Collaborate closely on social media campaigns with each of the university's academic programs: Optometry, PA and Pharmacy to support Admissions, Student Life, and brand awareness for the institution.
  • Responsibilities include the regular upkeep of all digital mediums, including analytic review and analysis.
  • Manage the digital advertising spends on behalf of the University and its clinical centers, ensuring that they are aligned with the strategic priorities of the University and its individual Colleges.
  • Author new content and edit existing copy for digital media platforms, ensuring that it complies with MBKU's style guide and University voice and tone.
  • Review and approve all edited content for live websites.
  • Assist in the development of digital marketing campaigns, including the development of compelling and on-brand emails through various platforms.
  • Serve as in-house expert on existing and emerging social media trends.
  • Manage all SEO activities.
  • Assist in the management of the University's social media policy.
  • In partnership with the Senior Graphic Designer, develop engaging and visually compelling content for all digital platforms.
  • Support Colleges and Departments in their budgeted digital marketing pursuits and serve as the primary liaison for the Office of Marketing & Communications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or relevant field
  • 2-4 years of professional experience in digital/social media marketing, preferably in a non-profit, university or health care setting.
  • Proven success managing social media platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality and work independently.
  • Experience with content management systems
  • Experience with Google Analytics.
  • Experience managing social media management platforms like Hootsuite, Agorapulse, Sprout Social, etc
  • Experience with Canva or other design platforms for light design and photo editing for social media posts.
  • Proficient in all aspects of social media (posting, analyzing, advertising).
  • Demonstrated ability to author new and engaging content for various digital channels, including, but not limited to: MBKU's websites, social media channels and other digital mediums.
  • Experience in the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Microsoft Office.
  • Web design and layout, including graphical interface, information architecture principles, and familiarity with designing to meet accessibility standards.
  • Manage projects while meeting deadlines and staying within budgets as assigned.
  • Willingness to take direction from management and work collaboratively with others.
  • Techniques for providing a high level of customer services by effectively dealing with internal and external clients, vendors, contractors and other contacts.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills including presentation abilities.
  • Demonstrated grammatical and editing skills; AP style guide knowledge preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with an inclusive and diverse external and internal team of colleagues, students, patients, donors and constituents.
  • Proven record of success in collaborative team environments, including morale building, effective handling of team dynamics in high pressure situations, creating a supporting team and working to a high standard.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in using project management platforms like Basecamp, Airtable, Asana, etc.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field.
