Job Title: Maintenance Laborer
Reports to: Maintenance Department Head
Hourly Wage: $19.25
This job requires a pre-employment physical and drug screen as well as random drug screens throughout employment.
SUMMARY
Maintenance Laborers repair and maintain all Fiscal Court facilities. At times, they fabricate needed items and do small remodeling projects.
JOB SCOPE
Responsible for repairing, maintaining, and occasionally renovating all physical sites belonging to the County. Making sidewalks and parking lots safe at County facilities is part of the job and requires plowing snow at times. Maintenance staff will find themselves working in tandem with employees from other departments and will be asked to perform certain duties in other departments as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
High School Diploma or Equivalent is necessary.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
Prior maintenance and handiwork experience is highly preferred, including minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and/or other skills.
WORKING HOURS AND CONDITIONS
The Maintenance Department works five days per week, Monday through Friday, from 7:00am to 3:30pm. If necessary, Maintenance may be called out after hours for overtime. Work is done indoors and outdoors. A typical day requires climbing, pushing, pulling, walking, standing, and lifting objects–regularly over 50 pounds. Additionally, they will operate tools and/or equipment much of the workday.
MAIN DUTIES
Perform work, approved through the maintenance request procedure, taking into consideration the availability of supplies and tools. Submit to the Department Head any special requests for materials.
Obtain approvals on any critical job details not previously discussed with the Department Head.
Safely and efficiently perform the assigned work as planned and approved.
Pick up unused materials and scrap and clean the job site after the assigned work is completed to ensure safety for staff and the public. Get approval from the Department Head to ensure the area is ready for use by the public. Do not leave equipment, chemicals, or other items unsupervised.
Accurately complete any paperwork requested by the Department Head and/or other County staff.
