Commercial Insurance Biller (Entry Level)
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for billing and follow-up on all third party/insurance claims and ensures prompt and accurate reimbursement.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Completes billing and posting duties on third party payer accounts.
Performs account follow-up and maintenance.
Responds to third party, patient, and customer service unit inquiries and correspondence.
Provides recommendations for accounts pending bad debt write-off.
Re-bills appropriate bad debt accounts.
Resolves coding errors.
Recognizes and resolves charging errors using the appropriate mechanisms.
Researches and prepares refunds according to hospital policy.
Monitors managed care contracts.
Manages disproportionate Share Hospital DSH Program.
Covers for the cashier/switchboard position.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.
Familiarity with third party billing requirements, reimbursement systems, and medical terminology.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
This position prefers three years of business office experience or equivalency; demonstrated computer skills. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
