Description
This individual works with the Student Supervisor to determine what work is required of the students, ensuring students accomplish this work in the appropriate manner. They will support the management process by providing regular, constructive guidance and corrective feedback
General Oversight of Student Work Routines
- Possesses an understanding of job duties and responsibilities of Student Employees for the purposes of guiding their daily work.
- Follows a schedule for preparing cages for wash.
- Responsible for emptying trash in beagle area.
- Responsible for the recycling of feed in the beagle area utilizing the system of auguring or vacuuming.
- Responsible for dumping the waste bedding barrels.
- Responsible for maintaining and cleaning of Medicine proportioners.
- Operates small equipment like sweepers, electric and gas-powered buggies as well as heavy equipment such as the payloader.
Employee Coaching & Development
- Ensures staff are assigned to the appropriate tasks; work is scheduled effectively; and checkpoints and controls are set for monitoring progress.
- Provides regular, constructive feedback to individuals on their performance.
- Promptly addresses performance problems through corrective action. Elevates performance issues that cannot be resolved through coaching to the next level of management.
- Assists with the onboarding of new students by training them on their job tasks, monitoring their performance, and providing feedback to help them gain competence.
- Fosters an environment where every employee feels they are a valued, appreciated, and important member of the Marshall Team.
Safe, Secure Work Environment
- Supports all company safety initiatives and assures compliance with company safety policies, procedures and OSHA safety regulations.
- Resolves safety problems as required, investigates accidents, and resolves at root cause level, supports staff participation in and compliance with safety training and related safety requirements. Participates in safety inspections as required.
- Complies with and assists in enforcing all site security requirements.
Requirements
Education: High School diploma or GED

Work Conditions:
Conditions are often hot and humid, with frequent animal contact. Duties are performed primarily on 1st shift with varying extended hours including occasional weekend work.
Physical Requirement:
Work is physically demanding with a requirement to lift animals. Job duties may be performed while wearing personal protective equipment. Position requires operation of large, motorized equipment.
Mental Requirement:
Individual is capable of effectively receiving, understanding, and applying written and oral instructions.
Compensation:
This position is full time, benefit eligible. Assistant Supervisor, Student Crew is a grade N4 with a pay range of $20.09 - $30.15/hour.
