Clinical Laboratory Technician

Job Requirements:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Clinical Laboratory Extern to join our team at Rivers Health. As a Clinical Laboratory Extern, you will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures under the supervision of a certified medical technologist or pathologist. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities:

I. Laboratory Testing
    Perform laboratory tests in one or more of the fields of hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, biochemistry, microbiology, serology, and immunohematology in order to obtain data for use by the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
    Perform and monitor daily quality control and instrument maintenance.
    Observe laboratory safety regulations and maintain accurate records.

II. Specimen Preparation
    Prepare specimens for analysis to include mixing, centrifuging, measuring, filtering, and diluting.

III. Quality Control and Maintenance
    Perform and document scheduled instrument maintenance.
    Calibrate instruments using appropriate standards.
    Evaluate new reagents and/or kits using quality control material and documentation.
    Perform quality control, documenting corrective action for out-of-limits results.

Education and Training:
A high school diploma or equivalent with classes in advanced sciences (Chemistry, Physics and Biology II) is required. Must have a current clinical Laboratory Trainee Licensure. Enrollment in a certified Medical Technology program or meeting regulatory requirements necessary to sit for a registry exam is preferred.
