The Financial Technical Systems Analyst is a Senior-Level position that will plan, design, build, and implement EMR/EHR financial information systems and related technology solutions to assist the organization with reaching overall revenue cycle-related goals, KPI's and to meet specific business needs. This seasoned technical analyst will have advanced patient financial systems skills (for example, database coding and scripting skills to help with claim modifications, statement customizations, creation of custom rules, denial management, charge tiering, charge building and troubleshooting, etc.). This analyst will provide advanced support for financial service line full adoption of Revenue Cycle system feature/function within the Marshall Health Network System.

This is the advanced level of our Financial Applications Analyst positions. Positions at this level are distinguished from other information technology analyst levels in that typical Financial Systems Analysts I's and II's specialize in supporting financial application systems at large, whereas this position requires both financial and technical expertise as well as leadership and innovation to support ongoing financial operations and enterprise-wide support associated with the use of the enterprise's core financial software. This position will serve in a dedicated team, leading and coordinating the building and integrations needed for Revenue Cycle technology, primarily the core financial system.

The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise in Soarian Financials system functionality and its underlying database and master files. System Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Gather requirements and functional specifications, assess current-state/provide recommendations for future-state functionality to develop and maintain Revenue Cycle systems focusing on Enterprise and Best-Practice standards for processing and handling of the Healthcare Revenue Cycle functions such as Insurance Claims Processing or Charge structure to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ensure all rules and workflows comply with healthcare regulations (e.g.: The Joint Commission, CMS), payer requirements, and organizational policies (e.g.: Change Control process).
  • Ensure seamless integration of Soarian Financials with other healthcare information systems and financial applications
  • Identify and implement system enhancements and process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors in charging, claims processing and remittance management.
  • Conduct regular audits and quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy and effectiveness in revenue cycle processing and remittance and reimbursement management.
  • Provide advanced technical support for revenue cycle and claims/remittance processing rules.
  • Daily work to help diagnose and resolve complex system issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Work closely with revenue cycle management teams, billing departments, and IT staff to understand needs and translate them into effective system rules.
  • Collaborate with vendors and external partners to implement and test new rules and system updates.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all rules and workflows within Soarian Financials. Maintain technical documentation based on standard operating procedures in support of the project repository and operations expectations.
  • Train end-users and technical staff on new rules and system functionalities
  • Develop system test scripts, plan, and coordinate system testing and validation regularly as necessary for system patches and upgrades to ensure quality and functionality.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with software and support vendors to ensure system issues are documented and addressed by the vendor in a timely manner.
  • Plans, Designs and Provides Leadership in implementation/upgrade/migration projects as required. Provides system process knowledge, perform configuration tasks, write/run reports, and other tasks in support of the project team as assigned.
  • Promotes the use of best practices of application system in the user community and with department managers.
  • Completes goals assigned by applications directors, managers, or supervisors.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information encountered in support of application systems as outline in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Continuously transforming system to enhance customer experience.
  • Interact with Information Services Analysts during the software build or configuration and the unit testing process through go-live and post-live support.
  • Work in collaboration with Business and Testing Team analysts for system and integration test execution for all required workflow and supporting functionality.
  • Identify the common causes of the defects, prioritize them and systematically remove them in further development work. Possess technical knowledge of Soarian Financials and functions that support all workflows.
  • Be part of the 24x7 support of the Soarian Financials applications and help troubleshoot problems when they surface.
  • Actively monitors assigned Service Now (SNOW) support tickets, providing regular updates, and resolving issues in a timely manner, in accordance with established SLA's and provides end-user communication/training/support as appropriate.
  • Follows organizational Change Control procedures.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Strives to be the best; stretches own capabilities to continuously improve. Sets a positive example for others
Requirements:

Education/Experience:

  • Degree in Health Information Management or Information Systems or related field required; or college level study leading to a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification by the American Health Information Management Association.

Or at minimum:

10 years of work experience in IT or relevant operational department.

  • One to two years of SQL experience required.
  • CCL experience preferred for this position.
  • Healthcare Business Office/Revenue Cycle experience is required.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of Soarian Financials Master Files and a thorough knowledge of working with revenue cycle elements, such as claims rules, claims processing, claims edits, remittance and denial management as well as bill-scrubber applications, particularly in rule development and configuration.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare revenue cycle processes, including billing, claims processing, and reimbursement.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and documentation.
  • Understanding healthcare regulations, payer requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Must have strong analytical skills, possess the ability and drive to generate solutions to challenging needs across acute and ambulatory healthcare delivery revenue cycle systems.

Position-related experience includes:

  • Experience planning, designing, implementing information systems applications.
  • Experience providing customer/department/end-user support of information systems, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Excellent skills using typical business/office applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, OneNote, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Networking, authentication, operation and navigation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with diverse user community and groups.
  • Strong Analytical skills required to support, maintain, train and trouble-shoot as necessary.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills including courtesy, honesty, discretion in conduct and confidentiality associated with all areas of the work environment.
  • Proven ability to lead work group/project teams.
