POSITION SUMMARY
The Cancer Services Program Coordinator/Department Lead is a member of the leadership team who coordinates the development of a comprehensive cancer program at Marshall Medical Center. Ensures the implementation of coordinated, effective and comprehensive cancer services across the continuum, according to American College of Surgeons Cancer Center Standards. Manages cancer data including the preparation of reports as well as monitoring the accuracy, quality, timeliness and presentation. Works with the Cancer Committee chairperson to set goals, priorities and monitor effectiveness of new and existing oncology services and programs. Manages Cancer Resource Center staff and daily operations with oversight from the Director. Develops and coordinates community services such as Cancer Resource Center/Library and patient/family support groups.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Licensure/Certification:
- Education and/or previous experience in health care related field required.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge and/or experience with tumor registry functions preferred.
- Must have experience in medical chart review or abstracting, skill in developing, implementing and managing programs and effective processes as well as excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge and/or experience in managing a comprehensive cancer program required.
Skills:
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, effective written and verbal communication skills including effective business communication
- Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Ability to frequently reprioritize workload as needed to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet/data base (Word, Excel) software and basic office equipment familiarity required.
- Power Point experience preferred.
- Comfortable with regularly verifying and processing insurance eligibility and obtaining authorization requests, including verifying personal credentials with external partners to obtain this information (e.g., ID.me for identity verification for VA insurance coordination).
