POSITION SUMMARY
The HIS Document Imaging Technician/MR Receptionist ensures the timely batching and processing of Hospital Medical Record documents. Collects and reviews medical documents to ensure they meet scanning requirements and condition. Maintains the daily workflow by scanning all appropriate documents in to the Horizon Patient Folder in a timely and efficient manner to avoid delay in further processing. Ensures that each document is indexed to the correct patient and placement in the electronic medical record. Ensures all documents are scanned and indexed with the highest level of quality possible.
Utilizing excellent customer service skills, this position also provides backup reception for the department which includes answering telephones, chart retrieval of records for continuing patient care and physician completion and review by other authorized hospital staff. The Clerk/Receptionist also provides knowledgeable and courteous customer service to the public, including the release of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) mandated Protected Health Information (PHI) according to federal, state and hospital policies and regulations.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Licensure/Certification:
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
Knowledge:
- One year of previous experience in a clerical position in health care medical records or healthcare business office setting required.
- Previous experience with scanning/imaging equipment and experience in quality control strongly preferred.
- Receptionist experience with knowledge of HIPAA, and State laws and regulations regarding release of medical information.
- Excellent customer service skills with preferred demonstrated knowledge of AIDET.
Skills:
- Must have good written and oral communication skills, typing and telephone skills.
- Must have excellent manual dexterity required. Good Clerical Skills as tested with Blue Ribbon.
