POSITION SUMMARY
Provides respiratory care to all patients in the Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Room, Medical/Surgical and Telemetry areas, Labor and Delivery and the Nursery. Maintains accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides respiratory care according to Marshall's standards of practice.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Licensure/Certification:
- Current California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from The American Red Cross or American Heart Association required.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics or the American Heart Association required.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from The American Red Cross or American Heart Association required.
Knowledge:
- All aspects of respiratory care including emergency room and intensive care settings as well as labor and delivery and neonatal care.
- Knowledge of human growth and development to modify care to age and development status.
Skills:
- Skilled in all aspects of respiratory care.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Must be able to work in a busy environment with frequent interruptions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to multi-task, work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Must be able to deal with stressful and emotional situations involving severely ill patients and their families.
