You will be responsible for system upgrades, installations, migrations, and ensuring the performance and security of the systems.
Key Responsibilities
- System Administration: Manage AS400/iSeries systems with responsibilities including work management, user management, journal management, and performance tuning.
- IBM Power Systems: Administer and maintain systems on IBM Power with OS versions V7R2, V7R3, V7R4.
- Project Leadership: Lead projects related to system hardware and OS upgrades, as well as LPAR installation, configuration, and virtualization.
- System Upgrades: Perform firmware upgrades on servers and hardware, handle HMC updates, and perform BIOS upgrades.
- Software Installation: Manage the installation of Cumulative PTFs, Group PTFs, software licensed programs, and license key management.
- Backup and Recovery: Administer Backup and Recovery Media Services (BRMS) for disaster recovery planning and execution.
- Hardware and Device Management: Configure devices, manage external disks, and resolve hardware-related issues such as tape libraries, disk failures, and optical connections.
- System Migrations: Lead server migration projects and handle system errors, including reference codes and error message resolution.
- Maintenance and Upgrades: Perform routine maintenance, LPAR upgrades, memory upgrades, and hardware replacements.
- Disaster Recovery: Develop and execute disaster recovery plans for critical systems, ensuring systems are restored efficiently.
- Security and Compliance: Perform vulnerability analysis and remediation while ensuring that systems meet compliance and audit requirements.
- Performance and Capacity Management: Monitor and optimize system performance, managing capacity to ensure reliable operation.
- Incident, Change, and Problem Management: Collaborate with teams to manage incidents, changes, and problems following ITIL-based processes.
- Proven experience in AS400/iSeries system administration.
- Expertise in IBM Power Systems with OS versions V7R2, V7R3, V7R4.
- Hands-on experience with LPAR installation, configuration, and virtualization.
- Experience with firmware upgrades, BRMS, and backup/recovery processes.
- Proficiency in cumulative PTF and software installation.
- Strong understanding of performance management, capacity management, and server migrations.
- Ability to resolve hardware-related issues, including tape libraries, disk failures, and HMC handling.
- Experience in disaster recovery planning and system refresh.
- Knowledge of compliance and audit requirements and vulnerability management.
- Familiarity with Change, Incident, and Problem Management processes (ITIL framework).
- Experience in secured operations and system refresh processes.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
