Job Title: Sr. Principal Product Owner
Location: Hybrid, must come to DC once per quarter at own expense
Duration: Contract

Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Principal Product Owner with expertise in SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) and a focus on data management products and services. This role requires someone who can align business goals with product development, prioritize features effectively, and drive high-value product delivery in a SAFe Agile environment. You will work closely with Product Management, Architecture, and other stakeholders to ensure robust self-service and advanced analytics platform development, emphasizing data governance, data quality, and metadata management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Ownership: Act as the voice of the customer, managing the product backlog to reflect business priorities and drive value for the data management and governance team.
  • Vision & Strategy: Develop and communicate a clear product vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and the needs of users.
  • Prioritization: Use business value, customer feedback, and technical feasibility to prioritize features and user stories, focusing the team on delivering high-priority items.
  • Requirements Gathering & Development: Collaborate with product management to define features, user stories, and acceptance criteria for self-service data management solutions, translating business needs into actionable requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work with business leaders, customers, and development teams to ensure alignment with the product vision and strategy.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Coordinate with other Product Owners to ensure comprehensive integration of data governance, quality, and stewardship capabilities into broader platform initiatives.
  • Agile Framework Implementation: Champion SAFe principles and agile methodologies, ensuring adherence to best practices within the Agile Release Train (ART).
  • Roadmap Development: Contribute to and maintain a product roadmap outlining the delivery schedule and key milestones.
  • Metrics & Analysis: Establish and track KPIs to measure product success, using data-driven insights for continuous improvement.
  • Leadership & Communication: Bridge the gap between business and technical teams, facilitating communication and ensuring alignment.

Qualifications:

  • SAFe Certification: SAFe 6.0 Product Owner/Product Manager Certification is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years as an Agile Product Owner, preferably within data management or analytics platforms.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of work experience and education.
  • Data Management Knowledge: Understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata management, and master/reference data management.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with data management platforms and tools such as Informatica, Collibra, or cloud-based data governance solutions.
  • Agile Methodologies: Strong experience with SAFe and agile practices, including backlog management and user story development.
  • Tools Proficiency: Experience with Jira, Confluence, FigJam, Jira Align, AgilityHealth, and related tools.
  • Communication & Leadership: Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to articulate product strategies and priorities clearly.

Preferred Skills:

  • Data Management Expertise: Experience in data governance and quality management.
  • Technical Acumen: Familiarity with modern data platforms and cloud-based solutions.
