What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Simulation and Instructional Design (AI) position at Marshall University?
The Director will be pivotal in leading the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of the medical school curriculum, with a special emphasis on simulation-based education and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in medical training. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean of Medical Education, this position will collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to ensure that the curriculum meets the highest educational standards and aligns with current medical practices and research.
Job duties of this position include:
1. Curriculum Development and Management: Oversee the planning, development, and implementation of an innovative medical curriculum. Ensure integration of clinical and basic science content across the program.
2. Simulation-Based Education: Lead the incorporation of simulation technologies and methodologies into the curriculum, including virtual reality, mannequins, and other simulation tools to enhance clinical training and student learning.
3. Instructional Design and Pedagogy: Lead the design and implementation of effective teaching methodologies. Introduce and support new technologies and pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning.
4. Faculty Development and Support: Provide training and resources to faculty members to improve instructional quality. Facilitate workshops and seminars on best teaching practices.
5. Artificial Intelligence Integration: Lead institutional efforts in integrating emerging AI technologies and machine learning concepts for enhanced clinical training and decision-making skills.
6. Curriculum Evaluation and AI Analytics: Utilize AI-driven analytics and machine learning to assess and improve curriculum effectiveness, student performance, and learning outcomes.
7. Accreditation and Compliance: Ensure the curriculum complies with accreditation standards and other regulatory requirements. Prepare reports and documentation for accreditation purposes.
8. Research and Innovation: Promote and participate in educational research to stay abreast of trends in medical education. Implement innovative practices in medical teaching and learning.
9. Collaboration and Leadership: Work closely with academic leadership, faculty, and other stakeholders to align the curriculum with the school’s mission and goals. Serve as a member of various committees and working groups.
10. Other duties as assigned.
