What are the responsibilities and job description for the Institutional Review Board Coordinator position at Marshall University?
- This individual provides staff and educational support for the Institutional Review Board (IRB) by interpreting and applying federal regulations; process and prepare research application packages for committee review
- Maintain meeting minutes and prepare all correspondence; assist researchers with the submission of a protocol and any necessary updates; monitoring and reminding researchers about annual updates/continuing reviews; conduct post approval monitoring of active research studies
- Maintain IRB member files and conduct annual interviews with members; conduct training sessions for groups/individuals on the institutional procedures and policies for human subject research. The individual reports to the Director, Office of Research Integrity who is responsible for the oversight of the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP). Additional duties as assigned by Director
Required Qualifications
Education
- High School Degree/GED
Experience
- At least two years related experience in research compliance administration – i.e., experience interpreting federal, state and institutional regulations
Preferred Qualifications
Education
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience
- Certified IRB Coordinator (CIC) certificate or Certified IRB Manager (CIM) certification, or the ability to obtain a certification within 2 years.
