Marshall University’s Advanced Manufacturing Center (MAMC) is accepting resumes for a Design Engineer. MAMC proudly serves more than 300 companies per year, from startups to the largest manufacturers from defense contractors to local inventors, with product development, workforce training, applied engineering, quality systems implementation, and supply chain support.Responsibilities: The Design Engineer will work with small to large manufacturers, startups and entrepreneurs to develop ideas, concepts and innovative strategies that provide practical, sustainable and economically viable solutions that create jobs. This position is responsible for designing new products and processes using computer-aided design software applications such as AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, and CAM including Mastercam, and Fusion 360 as well as other similar software. CAD Engineers at MAMC handle the most complex aspects of the design process and have a hand in the manufacturing process; they may create prototypes of the products they have helped develop and make design improvements based on prototype testing. Other duties include research - using mathematical modeling to determine new product effectiveness. Design - turning research ideas into technical plans using CAD/CAM software; testing - collecting and analyzing data from tests on prototypes; modifying designs and re-testing - processing the several required stages before a product is ready to manufacture; reporting - writing or presenting regular progress reports for project managers and clients; delivering industry-based training, and use of 3D Printing.
