What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nutrition Educator position at marshall?
Under the supervision of the Program Director, conducts on-site nutrition education programs in the designated school district of West Virginia. Conducts site visits. Prepares materials necessary for execution of programs. Essential Duties:Implements lesson plans and evaluation component, which meets the overall goals and objectives of the NEP program.Develop professional collaborations with the community stakeholders and partners that serve the SNAP target population, including but not limited to, health fairs, food drives, Smart Lunchroom concept and farming implementations.Develop environmental interventions within the designated area geared toward SNAP-Ed eligible audiences.Work as part of a team to provide direct education to the designated audiences, specifically for SNAP-Ed program.Review, revise and prepare any written or experiential tools needed for execution of the lessons.Presents nutrition education workshops in eligible schools.Presents nutrition education program to school health teachers, coaches and students.Develop effective and contemporary approaches to communicate with audiences and partners. This may include constantly evolving electronic technologies.Conducts site visits to schools to review programs with teachers, nurses and athletic directors.Adheres to policies and procedures of Marshall University. Maintains confidentiality of Marshall and school records, policies and procedures. Maintains security of all Marshall and school property.Maintains excellent working relations with school personnel, and close working relationships with Marshall University staff.Participates in conferences and workshops for teachers, nurses and principals.Assists with research activities under the direction of the PI/Program Director.Comply with all reporting deadlines and requirements (e.g. plans of work, activity and impact reporting, etc.)Pursue professional development opportunities to enhance competency in subject matter area.Comply with all Marshall University and MURC Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity policies and guidelines in all aspects of Extension work; assist Unit staff with data collection for Affirmative Action, Gender, and Targeted reports.Perform other duties that contribute to the mission of Marshall University and MURC programming, as assigned.Local, regional, statewide and (limited) national travel required; personal transportation required.
