Description
At MARSHALLTOWN, Senior Automation Project Engineers are responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining develops optimal, cost-effective automated manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with safety and quality standards as well as product specifications.
A successful candidate would be high energy, hands-on, have a strong sense of curiosity and meet the required experience.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Performs research, design, and development of manufacturing and distribution processes and product designs.
- Creates new designs to solve difficult manufacturing problems
- Designs or sources production equipment, robotic systems and automation equipment
- Prepares detailed CAD models and drawings to facilitate fabrication
- Program and test Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for use in manufacturing systems
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses mechanical and electrical malfunctions to include hardware and process issues.
- Support and continuously improve existing automated solutions
- Programs OIT with PLCs.
Qualifications
Qualifications of the Position Include:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from accredited university
- 5 years of progressive automation engineering and robotics experience in a manufactured products environment
- Extensive experience in AutoCAD, Auto CAD Electrical, SolidWorks, or other Solid modeling and design software
- Experience designing machines, electrical controls/systems, machine components, machine layouts,
- Experience with protective relays programming and Allen Bradley PLC’s. Experience with FANUC robots strongly preferred
- Prior experience with manufacturing equipment in the areas of forging, stamping, casting, welding, machining, & assembly
- Strong technical zeal to include the ability to present technical information to both technical and nontechnical team members.
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving and trouble shooting experience.
- Strong communication skills to interface with product development, manufacturing, marketing, finance, and supplier personnel.
