What are the responsibilities and job description for the TEACHER – INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC position at Marshfield High School?
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education with special preparation in the areas of teaching.
- Valid Missouri Teaching certificate.
- Updated transcript of college credit.
TERMS OF CONTRACT: 180 days (individual contracts may be adjusted by mutual agreement of the teacher and the board of education), compensation per salary schedule.
REPORT TO: Building principal
PERFORMANCE
RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential job skills/knowledge and abilities:
- Provide leadership to his/her students in the learning process.
- Become informed concerning rules, policies and regulations of the school and to interpret and carry out these regulations in their daily program.
- Work effectively within the junior high building team, as well as the high school team.
- Effective working in a team-teaching environment and within the PLC fine arts team.
- Teaching and student supervision responsibilities for band events/rehearsals including Band Camp, Parades, Football Games, Competitions, evening and morning rehearsals as necessary, and other events/duties as assigned.
- Seek to build the program vertically through collaboration and recruitment efforts 6-12.
- Organize his/her room so that teaching and learning can best be accomplished.
- Leadership of individual bands/band programs: pep band, colorguard, wind symphony, etc. as directed and divided among instrumental music team.
- Shall be responsible for the discipline of students in their classroom areas supervisory duty.
- Develop effective professional relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- Maintain confidentiality of pertinent data/information.
- Achieve other assignments as assigned by the building principal.
EVALUATION: Formative and summative evaluation per board of education policy. Frequency will depend upon length of employment and other factors relating to job
performance.
