Job Title: Intensive Home-Based Support Specialist (IHBS)

Reports To: Intensive Home-Based Counselor (IHBC)
Salary: $55,000 annually

About Marshmallow’s HOPE:
Marshmallow’s HOPE is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to youth suicide prevention and mental health support. Through our Intensive Home-Based Therapy Program, we offer trauma-informed, evidence-based services to youth and families in need.
Position Summary:
The IHBS role is a vital part of the Intensive Home-Based Therapy team, working in conjunction with the IHBC to provide in-home therapeutic support services to youth and families. The IHBS helps implement the clinical intervention plan by reinforcing coping skills, emotional regulation strategies, and behavioral interventions within the family setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work under the direction and supervision of the IHBC to carry out therapeutic interventions.
- Support youth and family in building skills aligned with the treatment plan.
- Teach emotional awareness, regulation, and coping skills to youth.
- Reinforce behavioral techniques and strategies provided in clinical sessions.
- Guide families in understanding and responding to the youth’s emotional and behavioral needs.
- Apply solution-focused and strength-based approaches in all interactions.
- Document progress and communicate observations to the IHBC.
- Ensure interventions are consistent with MAP (Measurement and Action Planning) tools.
- Maintain reliable and consistent scheduling with families.
- Provide services primarily in the client’s home or community settings.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related human services field.
- Must meet the Mental Health Professional (MHP) credentialing standard in Illinois.
- At least 2 years of experience working with children and families, preferably in a home or community-based setting.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and evidence-based practices is highly preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid Illinois driver’s license.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
