Role Summary
The Marshview Farm General Store is excited to be opening its doors this Summer. We are seeking a dedicated and entrepreneurial Store Manager to oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient sales, well-maintained facilities, and excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have experience managing inventory, merchandising, supervising staff, and utilizing point-of-sale (POS) systems. The Marshview Farm culture is rooted in community, collaboration, and the Great Marsh. Our goal is to sell local goods supporting small farms and businesses throughout the North Shore region. NOTE: Potential for local housing may be available for the position if needed.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management
· Oversee and manage stock levels, ensuring products are replenished as needed.
· Perform regular inventory counts and address discrepancies.
· Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to maintain proper stock levels of fresh produce, farm products, beer, wine, and other goods
Sales Management
· Drive sales by managing daily transactions and optimizing customer experience.
· Implement sales strategies to meet store revenue goals and ensure products are appropriately priced.
· Track sales data, analyze trends, and create reports for leadership.
· Ensure the POS system is up to date and functioning properly.
· Train staff on how to effectively use the POS tools.
· Monitor transactions and address any issues related to sales technology.
Organization & Store Presentation
· Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment.
· Ensure products are appropriately displayed and priced.
· Develop and manage seasonal layouts to maximize sales.
· Create standard procedures for opening and closing operations including store security
· Creatively display products to enhance sales
Facilities Oversight
· Manage day-to-day maintenance of the farm store, including coordinating repairs and cleanliness.
· Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Staff Management
· Recruit, train, and schedule part-time store employees.
· Lead, motivate, and evaluate the performance of staff members.
· Foster a positive and productive work environment.
Qualifications
· Proven experience in retail management, preferably in a farm store, wine store, or similar environment.
· Strong familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems and basic accounting principles.
· Excellent organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
· Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
· Hiring contingent upon successful completion of TIPS training certification
· Experience with liquor license compliance and protocols for beer and wine sales
Preferred Skills
· Experience in inventory control and vendor relationships.
· Knowledge of farm products, produce, and local goods.
· Basic understanding of farm and general food and alcohol sales.
