EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Industrial Management, or related field is required. Six years of progressively responsible experience in rail operations, transportation, or closely related experience, four years of which have been in a supervisory capacity in the transportation industry. Knowledge of MARTA rail system, overall transportation services, rail operation rules, and rail standard operating procedures desired. Experience in union environment, possessing skill in handing human relations issues when dealing with union representatives is desired. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required. Must demonstrate proficiency in various computer-based applications in order to leverage data, communicate, and make informed decisions in addition to delivering professionally written reports, memorandums, forms, etc. In lieu of the educational requirement, directly related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants’ knowledge, skills and abilities in job related areas. These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interviews and/or competency assessments.
SUMMARY
Manages MARTA’s customer experience within a designated zone, typically a group of 6-8 contiguous rail stations. Monitors and improves rail, bus and mobility service delivery within their designated zone to includes station cleanliness and operation of all customer amenities such as lighting, faregates and fare media machines, elevators and escalators, restrooms. audio and visual information systems etc. Utilizes all accessible MARTA resources in a manner that will provide customers with the best possible experience. Provides recommendations to senior staff based on review and analysis for the implementation of more substantial improvements within the designated zone. May serve as the replacement for the General Superintendent when required. Performs work that directly impacts MARTA's business operation and brand to a substantial degree.
This position has been identified as having responsibility for transit safety oversight at MARTA and is required to comply with the training requirements identified in the Authority’s Agency Safety Plan. Training requirements must be completed within 3 years of employment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages MARTA s customer experience within a designated zone, typically a group of 6-8 contiguous rail stations.
- Provides direct and immediate operational support during normal and emergency situations. Knowledgeable of bus, rail and mobility service delivery and possess competency to assist and in the performance of operational activities during service disruptions, evacuations or special events.
- Proactively seeks innovations and implements actions plans to enhance the customer journey to include identification and remediation of issues that may positively or negatively impact the station experience as real and potential safety risks or hazards.
- Serves as a community ambassador for those communities served within the zone. Remains cognizant of local events and external influences. Works to build advocacy and strengthen MARTA's image and brand. Coordinates closely with MARTA External Communications and Marketing.
- Maintains metrics for all key performance indicators related to rail stations and services within the zone to include station cleanliness and operation of all customer amenities such as lighting, faregates and fare media machines, elevators and escalators, restrooms. audio and visual information systems etc.
- Serves as the station liaison who collaborates and coordinates with other MARTA operational and business units such as MARTA Police, Capital Programs, Revenue Collection, Planning, Research and Analysis to enhance the customer service experience and minimize impacts to our patrons.
- Educates and assesses subordinates for effectiveness and strives for continuous improvement within the assigned workforce.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages Rail Supervisors and Station Care Supervisors for the designated zone.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have or acquire Rail Operator certification within one year. Certification must be maintained annually. Must operate the train under emergency conditions. Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
On a 24-hour basis, will be required to respond and assume command during emergencies or major incidents.
