Job Description
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Engineering, Statistics, Decision Science, Business Administration or a related field. Two years of progressively responsible experience performing a wide range of transportation planning projects. Experience using spreadsheet and statistical program packages for the development of service plans and service evaluation required. Demonstrated ability to express oneself through written and oral communication. Demonstrated ability to conduct research and present findings in comprehensive and clear format, proven problem-solving skills, and computer literacy required. Knowledge of ArcView GIS systems for the development of service plans and evaluation required. Knowledge of TranPlan, TP /VIPER or any Travel demand forecasting model software for the purpose of developing Transit networks, plans, and evolution required. In lieu of degree, year-for-year experience may be substituted.
Summary
Performs and supports the development of regional transit plans, designs and policy development. Serves as participant in the regional transportation planning process. Performs multiple tasks to include use of complex forecasting travel model used in the development of regional transportation plans. Reviews land use impacts on MARTA System analyzing potential service changes and consideration of new transit technologies and expansion development. Provides assistance to other units in the Authority in the design, evaluation, implementation of regional transportation plans.

- Serves as participant in the regional transportation planning process.
- Performs multiple tasks to include use of complex forecasting travel model used in the development of regional transportation plans. Develops spreadsheets for analysis, Peer Agency reviews, GIS analysis, etc.).
- Prepares transit network coding for application within the regional planning model.
- Completes analysis involving the interpretation of available information to determine the best direction for regional planning activities. Develops business correspondence, internal and external reporting and project documentation.
- Attends community meetings and public hearing as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
