EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to read and write in order to follow schedule and written instructions. Must demonstrate the ability to operate heavy equipment that includes, but not limited to: front end loaders, bob cats, brush chippers, chain saws, dump trucks, bucket trucks that surpass heights up to and exceeding 100 feet. Must demonstrate the ability to load, secure, tow and transport equipment on trailers. Must have 3 years of verifiable commercial heavy equipment operating experience. Must be able to work on roofs with heights 1-5 stories high. Must have a Commercial Driver’s License or minimally possess a CDL permit (successfully have passed the written portion of the CDL exam). Employees will be required to obtain their CDL license within 90 days of employment.
INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants’ knowledge, skills and abilities in job related areas. These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interviews and/or competency assessments. An Eligibility List will be established from the interviews to fill any future vacancies that may occur.
Summary
Performs a variety of essential duties throughout the Authority such as working wayside in the vicinity of the 750 high voltage tracks during revenue services and routine cleaning of vent shafts, roof/roof drains and gutters in a timely matter. Provides maintenance services as needed and/or assigned by Foreman/Supervisor; assisting in a wide variety of maintenance activities; addressing immediate operational and/or safety concerns; assisting skilled trades; and ensuring that tools, materials and vehicles are maintained in good working order and are available at job site when needed. Working in inclement weather is required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a Commercial Driver's License or minimally possess a CDL permit (successfully have passed the written portion of the CDL exam). Employees will be required to obtain their CDL license within 90 days following employment.
Must be able to obtain a Level II Wayside badge prior to completion of 60-day trial probation period. Employee must obtain their Wayside Dedicated Lookout Certification badge within 60 days of employment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs special project cleaning such as train fatality, storm drainage clean-up, tunnel vent shafts, fan rooms, roof and gutters, graffiti removal and rail station dust grates. Performs cleaning of rail stations track beds, mechanical rooms, and electrical rooms. Spreads sand and removes ice and snow from rail stations, garages and others facilities during ice/snow storms is required and other emergency requests.
- Clean-up in and around vacant real-estate properties, removal of homeless debris and dead trees.
- Unclog and remove debris from retention pond drainage canals.
- Clean-up and removal of overspills from sewage injection rooms.
- Performs special cleaning of MARTA rail stations and facilities. Work also involves cleaning around MARTA bus stops and shelters.
- Maintains the Authority’s wayside by cutting all overgrown vegetation and removing any trees obstructing train signals and operators view, or possess a safety concern to our riding customers
- Operates heavy equipment such as dump trucks, front end loaders, bob cats, bucket trucks, brush chippers, and other heavy equipment as assigned.
- Must be able to work out of a bucket truck with heights up to and exceeding 100 feet.
- Uses a variety of tools commonly associated with maintenance work such as rulers, power auger, axes, portable power tools, grinders, drills, chisels, chain saws, hammers, wrenches, pliers, cutters, or other tools as assigned.
- Uses equipment such as walk behind scrubbers, trailer mounted pressure washers, sandblasting equipment, gasoline/electric powered sweepers, carpet extractors, vacuum cleaners, walk behind lawn mowers and sand spreaders, and other equipment, that may or may not be used during inclement winter.
- Operates MARTA maintenance vehicles to include vehicles with manual transmissions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
