A senior actuarial associate will support Martello Re and the actuarial team with various high profile strategic initiatives, including:

  • Develop best-in-class capabilities across Modeling, Risk/ALM, Data Analytics and Reinsurance/Underwriting;
  • Standardize, streamline and automate processes to minimize production work and maximize analytical work;
  • Proactively manage risk and capital to optimize risk-adjusted shareholder returns;
  • Develop reinsurance relationships to establish diverse sources of low-cost funds.


Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage interns and entry level students.


Duties/Responsibilities

  • Support build-out of in-force and pricing modeling (e.g., Prophet) with scalable cloud-based solution.
  • Support producing standardized monthly projections for GAAP, EBS/BSCR, Liquidity Risk, FP&A, EV / Valuation and EC / Stress Testing.
  • Support build-out of strong controls framework.
  • Support proactive management of current and projected capital positions.
  • Support the development of data analytics capabilities as a differentiator for underwriting, experience monitoring, and client service offering.
  • Support the reinsurance pricing efforts across MYGA, FIA, FIA GLWB, PRT, RILA, Funding Agreements, UL/IUL and WL.


Required Skills/Abilities

  • Experience and familiarity with actuarial modeling software (e.g., Prophet, MG-ALFA). Prophet experience preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Familiarity with R, Python, and/or comparable programming language preferred.
  • Experience working on multiple projects across functional topics / areas.
  • Experience and familiarity with fixed annuity products and asset / liability modeling of fixed annuity business.
  • High degree of attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Sense of extreme ownership.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with others in support of key initiatives.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, business, or related field required.
  • Two to four years of actuarial experience required.
  • Three or more ASA-level exams are preferred.


Location and Travel

  • Preferred locations: Charlotte, NC, Bermuda, or Eastern US time zone
  • Remote employees are expected to travel to Charlotte approximately once per month for 2-3 business days, or more frequently as determined by business needs.
