POSITION SUMMARY

The Grant Accountant will be responsible for post-award grant accounting including, but not limited to, reconciliations, submission of reports, financial monitoring and analysis, ensuring fund compliance, and maintenance of financial records in accounting software, and other accounting and financial activities assigned by the Grant Accounting Manager or CFO.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned :

• Performs grant-related post-award functions, including periodic invoicing, financial reporting, labor distribution changes, monitoring fiscal grant compliance, and grant closeout functions, as requested by Grant Accounting Manager.
• Assist with pre-award budget development.
• Ensure timely preparation and submission of periodic grant invoices while maintaining detailed records and documentation for audit purposes.
• Maintain Restricted Fund documentation, including funder name, funded amount, fund source coding, restriction of funds, and tracking of funds spent.
• Prepare monthly shared cost allocation percentage calculations and correctly post the shared costs allocations in the accounting software for each month in a timely manner.
• Ensure labor distribution data in payroll and accounting systems are accurate.
• Communicate with Senior Directors and other leaders on project and department budgets; comparing contract spending to award.
• Maintains knowledge of internal control requirements and ensures financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
• Prepares financial management reports as requested by the Grant Accounting Manager and Chief Finance Officer.
• Assists Grant Accounting Manager in annual financial audit preparation and processes along with periodic grant monitorings and audits.
• Analyzes financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures; provides strategic recommendations and creates solutions to business and financial problems.
• Reviews expenditures for allowability, allocability, and reasonableness and appropriate recording of expense to general ledger, department, and funding source
• Assists in preparation of organization annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements, budget performance, and interim grant financial reporting.
• Assists in training new Grant Accountants.
• Other duties needed to help drive Martha O'Bryan's Vision, fulfill its Mission, and abide by the agency's values.
