JOB DESCRIPTION
Martin Brûlé Studio is looking for an experienced Interior Designer to support and work closely with the internal Design Team to efficiently execute projects within deadline constraints.
Director of Design that leads the internal FF&E design team to efficiently execute projects within deadline constraints. The Head of Design brings with themselves a wealth of knowledge that they use to shape the direction of the project of the organization. They play a key role in dealing with clients and shaping the creative vision and direction in collaboration with the Creative Director.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Generate and discuss project ideas, moodboards and project design plans with the Principal
- Oversee and take responsibility for project management of multiple projects simultaneously (timelines, objectives, budget, outcomes)
- Attending design meetings and installations with other members of the design team
- Utilize project management tools like Monograph and Excel
- Develop and maintain internal design review standards, processes and protocals.
- Work directly with DP to agree on project scopes, contracts and deliverables.
- Motivate, manage and hold the designers accountable for their perfromance.
- Advise and manage clients on interior design factors such as space planning, layout and use of furnishings or equipment, and color coordination. Providing presentations and project updates.
- Monitor and manage resources of the design team. Identify when there is under or over staffing, monitor the billable hours and hold the team accountable.
- Create and develop conceptual designs
- Ensure design budgets are monitored regularily and in accordance with client needs.
- Create and manage timelines and priorities as part of a cross-functional team and collaboratively meet tight deadlines
- Communicate potential obstacles and opportunities to the President and the support team.
- Review and direct Senior Designer & Junior Designers in creating and updating client presentations
- Research and source interior products and relevant interior finishes / materials for review
- Creating furniture plans, elevations, RCPs, millwork drawings, custom furniture drawings, etc
- Use computer-aided drafting (CAD) and related software to produce construction documents
- Coordinate for finish plans, specifications and material selections
- Utilize presentation tools including Adobe Suite and basic office software like Microsoft Office, and Keynote
- Utilize project folders with all related drawings, specs, schedules, etc
- Source FF&E and produce detailed FF&E specifications with pricing, materials, finishes, and various types of schedules : plumbing fixture, finishes, lighting, door hardware, etc
- Site visits to supervise / check-in as needed
- Entering FF&E into Folhiho in order to generate client proposals, invoices, purchase orders, etc.
