The ideal candidate will be safety-conscious, dependable, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a backhoe to excavate trenches for water, sewer, and storm drain installation on residential construction sites.
- Perform precise digging for the installation of water and sewer pipes, ensuring proper depth and alignment.
- Assist with backfilling trenches and other excavated areas, ensuring proper compaction and leveling.
- Work closely with project managers, foremen, and other team members to meet project goals and timelines.
- Perform pre-operation checks and daily maintenance on the backhoe to ensure it's in safe working condition.
- Maintain job site cleanliness and ensure that safety protocols are consistently followed.
- Move materials, tools, and other equipment to and from the job site as needed.
- Assist in fine grading and site preparation for landscaping or foundation work.
- Complete necessary reports and logs for equipment usage, maintenance, and project progress.
- Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all crew members.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience operating a backhoe in excavation and utility installation preferred.
- Strong knowledge of water and sewer installation procedures.
- Proficient in trenching, backfilling, and grading techniques.
- Experience with various types of excavation equipment (e.g., backhoes, excavators, skid steers)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or utility plans.
- Knowledge of construction site safety standards and practices.
- Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively.
- Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required.
