What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scale House Technician position at Martin County Board of County Commissioners?
Summary
Responsible administrative work on a rotating shift basis assisting with all functions at the scale house. Duties include processing transactions using a scale weighing and billing system, creating certified tare and gross weight tickets, account updates, changes or corrections. Will also be responsible for work involving receiving funds from customers and posting monetary transactions. Position reports to Scale House Supervisor.
In the event of a natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee may be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities / Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Assists with daily operations and accounts receivable.
Performs all functions necessary for the collection and reconciling of accounts.
Handles window transactions and assess disposal charges based upon established users fee schedule.
Collects fees from solid waste users and/or charge accounts.
Reviews accounts that are over their limit and advises the customer that a payment is required.
Proofs own cash if attending scale and assists other technicians with verifying monies received by balancing and the deposits are secured for security delivery.
Opens computer system and closes out reports for all transactions.
Responds to and resolves customers concerns or refers such inquiries to the proper individual for response; greets and directs customers, as appropriate.
Responsible for monitoring customer flow through the Transfer Station drop-off areas.
Processes certified weight tickets.
Communicates with other personnel by radio and accurately relays information.

Knowledge of scale house specialized computer system to generate and update a variety of reports as may be required.
Knowledge of Scale house operations and computer system along with finance transaction.
Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
Knowledge and ability to enforce and explain rules and regulations to customers and the general public.
Skill in handling the public and to communicate well with customers in a courteous and business-like manner.
Ability to understand and execute verbal and written requests for financial and statistical data.
Ability to receive cash funds and make change accurately.
Ability to coordinate the operation of recycling collection centers, hazardous waste collection centers, and transfer stations.
Education And Experience
Must possess a High School Diploma or an acceptable equivalent diploma and two (2) years' experience involving duties in accounts receivable, data processing and customer service with frequent public contact.
Additional qualifying education and/or experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.

Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License
