About Martin County Hospital District
Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. Located in the heart of West Texas, the district serves a rural community with a state-of-the-art hospital facility.
The new facility, opened in 2012, is an 18-bed Critical Access Hospital located on I-20. This modern facility replaced the original hospital, which served the community for many years near downtown Stanton.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Evaluating the appropriateness, medical necessity, and efficiency of healthcare services
- Reviewing medical records to determine if services provided meet criteria for admission
- Ensuring patients receive appropriate level of care based on clinical guidelines and best practices
- Performing pre-authorization and ongoing review for medical treatments and services needed
- Collaborating with healthcare providers to ensure care delivered aligns with coverage guidelines
- Coordinating with healthcare providers, patients, and families to ensure smooth transition of care
- Monitoring the appropriateness of hospital admission, extended stays, and discharges from the hospital
- Sending acute care referrals from the Emergency Room
Requirements:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing
Licenses/Certificates:
Registered Nurse by the State of Texas
Current BLS required
Experience:
Effective oral and written communication abilities
Teaching skills within scope of practice
Three years prior experience in nursing or social work required
