Job Description
The Custodian performs a variety of general custodial and light grounds keeping work in the care and maintenance of assigned school buildings and facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and healthy environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Floor Care: Sweeps, mops, vacuums, strips, waxes, and buffs floor surfaces to maintain their cleanliness and appearance.
- Restroom Maintenance: Cleans and disinfects restroom areas, replenishes paper supplies and soap as necessary, and ensures proper ventilation and waste management.
- Window Cleaning: Cleans windows, walls, woodwork, blinds, heating/air vents, and light fixtures to maintain a sparkling appearance.
- Dusting and Polishing: Dusts and cleans desks, chairs, and other furniture to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Trash Removal: Empties trash receptacles, deposits recyclable material in proper receptacles, and maintains a clean and odor-free environment.
- Grounds Keeping: Sweeps sidewalks and walkways outside of buildings, polices grounds, picks up debris, shovels snow, and applies de-icing compounds to walkways and driveways as necessary.
Requirements:
- Graduation from high school or equivalency
- General knowledge and experience of building cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment
- Current and valid Driver's License
