Martin County Transit, LLC, a division of Senior Resource Association, is looking for a Utility Worker to support the daily readiness and cleanliness of our transit fleet and facilities. This behind-the-scenes role is essential to delivering safe and dependable transportation for our community.
About the Role:
The Utility Worker plays a key part in maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and operational readiness of Martin County Transit vehicles and bus shelters. Working under the direction of the Fleet Manager, this role is responsible for fueling, cleaning, minor maintenance tasks, and supporting documentation efforts. Key Responsibilities:
- Fuel transit vehicles following each shift and report any fuel station issues.
- Clean vehicle interiors and exteriors according to scheduled routines, including weekend washes.
- Remove and secure farebox safes each night, following established protocols.
- Park and stage vehicles according to fleet layout and readiness requirements.
- Report any vehicle or fleet damage and complete required maintenance records.
- Perform routine and emergency cleaning or maintenance of bus shelters.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace, including the Fuel Island.
- Assist maintenance staff with basic recordkeeping or light data entry.
- Respond to emergency cleaning or service needs as assigned.
What You Bring:
Experience:
- Previous experience in vehicle cleaning, maintenance, or transit support is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and comply with safety procedures.
- Basic computer and data entry skills for recordkeeping tasks.
- Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to dependability and team collaboration.
- Physical ability to bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Clear, professional communication skills and a team-first attitude.
Other Job Characteristics:
- Work is primarily outdoors or in vehicle maintenance areas.
- Frequent exposure to diesel fumes, cleaning chemicals, and environmental conditions.
- Required to wear PPE and follow all safety guidelines.
- Evening and weekend shift availability is required.
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential to success in this role.
Education & Certifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid Florida CDL (Class B) with Air-Brake Endorsement required.
- Must pass DOT physical and all related drug/alcohol screenings.
- Must successfully complete a Level II background check and meet eligibility through the Florida Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA).
